The daffodils have disappeared and our round-abouts are being given a make-over for summer. As I drive past the round- about at Shire Hall I notice alot of work is taken place to make it look more attractive. It now has a visual focal point with shrubs and boulders making an emphasis on the contraversial sculpture. Opinions in the office are divided at the moment as to whether it looks better but I personally think it does. My favourite round-about at Cromere Road is looking lovely with the azealas in bloom. have you a favourite? Do you like our round-abouts or do you not notice them?
Spring has sprung? March 20, 2007
Over the last two weeks the daffodils have opened, and all around Shrewsbury there are swathes of golden daffodils. The town looks lovely as we drive around. It makes you feel so much better seeing these flowers in all their glory brightening up our days. It’s a pity that the weather is so awful at the moment but there could be some truth in the old adage, If March comes in like a lamb it will go out like a lion. It came as a shock looking out my window on Sunday to see snow flurries falling, and then having to drive back from Scotland I certainly encountered all weather, rain, sleet, hail, snow and high winds. Still I got back in one piece although tired from the journey.
Back to the flowers around town. The azaleas on the Crowmere Road Roundabout are just about out, I hope this cold weather doesn’t kill them off. I think this is my favourite roundabout in the spring. Frankwell Roundabout looks good with all the spring flowers out and I’m sure the bubble wrap will be coming off the tree ferns very shortly. They always remind me of my time in Melbourne where they grew wild in the Dandenongs.
I’ll try and remember to take some photos when I’m out and about and post to the site. Do you have a favourite roundabout? Let me know. Look forward to your comments
